Chiropractic's contribution to pro and non-pro athletes depends on its role in the sports environment. For example, sometimes the Doctor of Chiropractic plays a primary contact role with athletes; in other cases he or she has a dynamic co-management role in establishing a multidisciplinary approach with other members of the health care staff, all focused on the athlete. Finally, aware of the indications and limitations of his or her work, the Chiropractor also recognizes the athlete who needs to refer to another specialist on the team.
